“I believe firmly in de-centralised decision making. The economic and social needs of Scotland are better served with decisions being taken in Holyrood rather than Westminster.”

David has spent his most of his working life in Scotland, and finds it a great place do business. He is currently Managing Director of Perth-based Inspire Web Development, a company he founded in 2008 to provide high-quality, low-cost websites to businesses of all sizes.

Under David’s direction Inspire has grown beyond all expectations, but still retains its trademark attention to detail, customer care and client budget. The company completed its 230th website this autumn and counts over 205 businesses from around the world as satisfied customers.

David believes that independence is the way forward for both Scotland and his business.

“I believe firmly in de-centralised decision making. The economic and social needs of Scotland are better served with decisions being taken in Holyrood rather than Westminster. The UK is no longer an imperial power and can’t afford to continue pretending to be one.”

With “the economic case being overwhelmingly positive in Scotland’s favour”, David is confident that his company’s strong growth would continue after a Yes vote.

At Inspire David oversees a growing team of developers, graphic designers, copywriters, photographers and SEO specialists. Together they specialise in delivering great-value website packages for small businesses, e-commerce modules, event/poster sites, social-media campaigns and custom-builds, as well as their innovative and affordable Dedicated Developer and Developer SOS services.

David began his career in business with a BA (Hons) in Business Economics from the University of Paisley. His first position after graduation was as Sales Manager for Scottish and Newcastle, where he spent seven years successfully maximising profit and growth for the brewer.

As his interest in IT grew, David earned an MSc in Information Technology (Systems) from Heriot Watt University.  After a short-term contract with the British Computer Society, David took on a variety of specialised IT and project-management positions with Aviva.  In the course of his five years with the insurers, David project-managed the delivery of IT & Business Change, managed specialist teams to resolve service and delivery issues and provided strategic and management consultancy.

Staying ahead of and becoming a leader in current developments in the “world of the web” as well as the latest social media and marketing trends is very important to David; it’s also a large part of his company’s extraordinary success.

David is PRINCE2 Practitioner accredited and brings its focus on control, quality, time and cost to all Inspire’s work. He’s also an active professional Member of the British Computer Society, the Federation of Small Businesses, a sponsor of Perthshire Chamber of Commerce and a former director of BNI (Fair City, Perth).

In his spare time David enjoys playing with his kids, gadgets, football and chess.
